We are the last to leave a disaster!
When others agencies leave, after supplying food and clothes, treating and bandaging the wounds, MHI International stays to treat the mental and emotional scars left by the enemy’s bullets, broken hearts and hopelessness, desperation and worthlessness, anger and rage, grief and disappointments, rejection and abandonment, fear and despondency and dependency.
And our success is the mental and emotional stability of the people which can be translated into productivity, social justice, motivation, security, and lasting peace.
Mental Health Initiative for Africans in Crisis, Incorporated (MHI) is an international, non-governmental, independent organization established for the purpose of providing mental health assistance to Africans in crisis on a humanitarian basis. MHI operates exclusively to provide emergency and logistic mental healthcare aid to African nations afflicted by armed conflicts, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters, and other traumatic situations. MHI is identified as a health care organization, but unlike other international health care agencies that cover both medical and mental services, MHI focuses only on mental health problems caused by trauma, confusion, and maladjustments destabilizing mental/emotional problems as a result of exposures to life-threatening and catastrophic experience.
